If you’ve been wanting to come along to Waterloo Community Garden but can’t make our weekday Action Days, we have several weekend dates for your diary!

Sunday 7th May, 11am-2pm: We are planning a relaxing Sunday gardening session. In addition to gardening activities, we are excited to be offering a free workshop with the opportunity to learn how to make a “Pollinator Street”. Learn about the different pollinating insects, how they collect pollen and the different kinds of flowers they like. Then discover how to plant for all seasons, so that pollinators can find food when they need it most. Pollinator populations are under threat globally, and we rely on them to pollinate many of our food crops. This workshop will show how we can support these vital insects locally. Brunch will be available to buy, courtesy of Waterloo Cottage Farm.

Sunday 11th June, 10am-3pm: We are delighted to be opening the community garden on Open Farm Sunday for the third year in a row! We’ll have fun activities for all the family, including a bug hotel to build, seed sowing, vegetables to plant out, and more. Take a tour of Waterloo Cottage Farm and meet the free-range, pasture-fed animals (pigs, piglets, cows and sheep), and take part in a pork pie making workshop. A new glamping business, Country Bumpkin Yurts, will be launching on the farm that day, so you’ll be among the first to see the yurts!

More information about both events is in the Events section and on Facebook.
